San Francisco, California based data processing and analytics company Splunk has confirmed acquiring San Mateo-based cloud monitoring platform SignalFx for $1.05 billion in a cash and stock deal. As per the details, 60% of the total deal will be in cash while 40% will come in the form of common stock.
Launched in 2013 by Karthik Rau and Phillip Liu, SignalFx offers the real-time cloud monitoring platform along with predictive analytics. The company manages to discover metrics across every component across the cloud infrastructure. It is optimized for cloud infrastructure and microservices-based applications and provides powerful visualization, proactive alerting, and collaborative triage capabilities for all sizes of enterprises.
The company has raised $178.5 million since its inception. The backers of the firm include the names like General Catalyst, Tiger Global Management, Andreessen Horowitz, CRV and others. The firm counts the likes of AthenaHealth, Change.org, Kayak, NBCUniversal and Yelp among its customers.
Splunk, on the other hand, was launched in 2004 by Erik Swan, Michael Baum, and Rob Das. The platform is the market leader in machine data analysis in order to deliver Operational Intelligence for security, IT and the business.
