Switzerland and U.S.-based workplace startup Beekeeper that helps in connecting the non-desk workforce to operational systems and communication channels have confirmed picking up $45 million as part of Series B financing. The latest round has been co-led by Swisscanto Invest and Thayer Ventures with participation from existing investors that included Atomico, Alpana Ventures, Edenred Capital Partners, Fyrfly, Hammer Team, Investiere, HighSage Ventures, Keen Venture Partners, Samsung NEXT, Swiss Post and Swisscom. The Series A capital for the firm came exactly a year ago when the firm picked up $13 million round led by Atomico and Keen Ventures. The current infusion takes the total amount raised by the firm to $71 million.
Founded in 2012 by Andreas Slotosch, Cristian Grossmann, Daniel Sztutwojner, and Flavio Pfaffhauser, the firm's mobile-first platform is aimed at non-desk employees, including those working in hospitality, manufacturing, and retail. It helps to bridge the communication gap. The managers of the firm can keep an eye on the non-desk employees through the platform by overseeing the operations and communications. The freshly raised funds will go towards the development of their app. The company is also building tools that will help them integrate Beekeeper with other platforms.
Cristian Grossmann, the CEO of the platform talking about the firm said, "Given the pace of workplace digitization and the unique demands of frontline workers, businesses have struggled to find a mobile-first platform built specifically to meet the complexities of a non-desk workforce. Consumer apps are not the answer, and knowledge-worker apps such as those offered by Slack and Microsoft don’t cover the needs of frontline workers."
The firm counts big names like Hyatt Hotels, Dollar General, Domino’s Pizza, Heathrow Airport and SeaBoard Foods among their customers.
