Technology has enabled people to achieve almost everything Naked Labs, a company which lets you scan your whole body and helps you track the physical changes of your body has raised a funding of $14 million. Named as Naked, the 3D body scanner is aimed at the home consumers. The tool captures 360-degree images of the body and evaluates your shape.

The investment round was led by Founders Fund along with participation from NEA, Lumia Capital, Venture 51, Seabed VC. Cyan Banister, a partner at Founders Fund also infused money as per his personal capacity. Naked Labs intends to use the fresh capital to scale their manufacturing, increase the team strength and keep working on development.

Founded by Farhad Farahbakhshian, the scanner development by the firm provides information such as body fat percent, lean mass and fat mass, circumferences, side-by-side comparisons, and graphs of historical data. The 3D scanner of the firm has RealSense cameras from Intel for the images which result in an output that looks like Transportation Security Administration (TSA) body scan image that is used at the airports. Powered with a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth-enabled mirror along with the RealSense cameras, the scanner rotates around the body for 15 seconds to give the results.

Banister commenting on their investment said that “Founders Fund is known for investing in big ideas, and Naked Labs is no exception. We are excited about what the team is doing, and this is just the beginning. Once you create a platform for body models, the number of valuable services for the end user is infinite. We truly believe this will change how people interface with the internet — and their bodies.”

Interestingly, the firm started taking pre-orders of the product last year itself. Priced at $1395, Naked has started shipping the product to the customers who had pre-ordered.

Farahbakhshian, the CEO, and founder of the company said, “We have been looking forward to this day for a long time. Today, people are searching for evidence-based methods to track health and fitness that aren’t solely focused on weight. We are excited to get Naked into people’s homes to give them better insight into exactly what’s going on in their body and help them work toward their goals.”

So, if you’re a fitness freak or you have a resolution of getting fitter, one would think this scanner is for you. Go, get it.
