Caregiving services marketplace Homage which is based out of Singapore announced that it has raised a Series A funding of $4.15 million. Golden Gate Ventures, their existing investor, and HealthX Capital co-led the funding round which also saw participation from SeedPlus, Juha Paananen (CEO of Nonstop Games, acquired by King.com), and former JobsCentral execs Lim Dershing (CEO) and (co-founder) Huang Shao Ning.
The company had raised $1.2 million from 500 Startups, Golden Gate Ventures, and SeedPlus last year in a seed funding while earlier in 2016 it has secured angel investment from Pananaan, Lim and Huang, among others.
The company plans to use the fresh funds to expand their reach in the Asian Pacific region and making the tech platform stronger. They also want to teach the caregivers more standard and better ways to handle the seniors at home.
Gillian Tee, Lily Phang, Nhat Duong Tong had founded the firm in 2016 in order to help the seniors so that they live happily with dignity. The platform connects the patients with caregivers. It keeps the family members in the loop as well.
Gillian Tee, one of the co-founders while talking to Techcrunch said that after starting the firm, they realized how much one-one-care was needed in the world. A lot of what we do is actually non-medical, and it’s even more clear that need to help people be mobile, be functional and have the choice to live with dignity as they age," said Tee.
Talking about their goal Tee suggested that while they continue to focus on Singapore, they're looking at the other regions to expand as well. “The focus is on Singapore but we’re looking at one other market in APAC. “We’re not quite decided on which one that’ll be [but] we sees that across Asia this is something that’s very much needed," Tee added.
One would feel that the platform can do a world of good to all those lonely seniors.
