InnerChef Secures $6.5 Million In Fresh Funding


InnerChef, the Gurgaon-based cloud kitchen startup has bagged a pre-Series B financing of $6.5 million which was led by Taizo Son’s Mistletoe Inc. and Das Kapital. The round which takes the total amount raised by the company to $12.4 million saw participation from existing investors that included Saha Capital, Singapore-based VC firm M&S Partners and Brand Capital.

The company was started in 2015 by Bal DiGhent, Rajesh Sawhney and Sanjeev Singhal as a platform which will help consumers with a raw ingredient box and then the consumer can make their dish. However, the trio soon realized that this may not work in India and entered the food delivery and cloud kitchen segment.

Speaking about how the InnerChef plans to utilize the freshly raised amount, co-founder and CEO Rajesh Sawhney said that “The fresh funding will be used to strengthen the brand portfolio. We are also using the fresh round of funding to further strengthen our shared kitchen platform across India." The firm claims to have a presence in six cities with 25 kitchens. However, they have set a target of taking the number to 100 kitchens across 10 cities with Chennai, Kolkata, and Pune being their next target. InnerChef also claims to ship 100,000 meals per month.

The company has built a portfolio of top brands like brands like, Bombay Sandwich Company, Thalis of India, YumYumDilli and YumYumSouth under their multi-brand strategy. has become a market leader in the healthy food segment in the country. The firm competes with unicorns like Swiggy and Zomato in the food delivery segment.
