Video Editing Platform Vochi Gets $1.5 Million As Seed Capital

Belarus-based Vochi, a video editing platform that helps content creators across platforms like Instagram and TikTok have confirmed picking up $1.5 million in a seed funding round. Ukraine’s VC firm Genesis Investments led the latest round. The company had raised an undisclosed pre-seed capital in April last year as well.

Vochi was started by Ilya Lesun in 2019 as a video editing app that can make short videos for platforms like TikTok. It uses a computer vision-based video segmentation algorithm for making the video which makes it unique.

Lesun, the CEO of the firm talking to Techcrunch said that “As mobile content production and consumption increase, there’s also an increasing demand for content creation tools. This is where we can bring value to content makers — be it professionals and amateurs — by delivering a video editing platform with as many tools and effects as possible. We see it as a content editing studio in a user’s pocket”. Talking further on the financing, Lesun said that this partnership will help us grow Vochi as a global product, building a strong monetization model and implementing new, impressive features

Vitaliy Laptenok, the CEO of Genesis Investments said that they were excited to work with Vochi's team. “We are excited to work with such extraordinary founders to help them build a new tool to make self-expression through video easier. Their deep technical expertise coupled with our digital marketing experience will help Vochi achieve extraordinary results and disrupt the global video editing industry,"
