Atlassian, the productivity software firm famous for Jira has acquired Code Barrel, a company that makes automation tools for Jira. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed by any of the involved parties. Notably, Code Barrel is one of the most famous add-ons on Atlassian’s marketplace.
Code Barrel was started by Andreas Knecht in 2016 along with Nick Meniere. Both of them involved in the building of Jira as well. Through the deal, Atlassian plans to integrate Code Barre's tool with Jira to improve its utility for DevOps, marketing and human resources teams.
Atlassian's head of tech teams Noah Wasmer commenting on the deal said, “Automation for Jira is a powerful no-code rules builder that makes automating routine operations a breeze. By having computers do more of the time-consuming and error-prone work, teams can win back more of their most precious resource: time.”
Knecht, the founder of the firm talking about the news through his blog post said, "This is just the end of one chapter and exciting start of another for us. We're excited to head into the Atlassian offices in Sydney, grab a coffee and continue the work we have been doing over the last 3.5 years.
Talking further, Knecht adds that “We are as ever, committed to our mission to create an easy-to-use team productivity tool that users can feel passionate about. Becoming part of Atlassian will provide an amazing opportunity for us to continue building a solid solution for what our customers need and we’ll now be able to invest in R&D more heavily to further improve Automation for Jira.”
