Online community marketplace Airbnb, the company which allows people to list, discover and book accommodations across the world have confirmed the acquisition of Denmark-based Gaest which works in a similar domain. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed by both the parties.
While Airbnb's main domain is allowing the people to book the overnight accommodation, the deal will give them diversify their business. The additional thing Gaest does is, allows the people to book places and venues book places for meeting and work-related events on hourly or daily basis across Europe and other parts.
Gaest was started by Anders Boelskifte Mogensen, Chris Kjær Sørensen, Christian Schwarz Lausten, and Jonas Grau Sigtenbjerggaard. The company had raised a seed round investment of about $3.5 million. Gaest had made an acquisition as well when it had acquired meeting and conference room booking marketplace BokaRum in 2017. Airbnb confirmed that the company will continue to operate as an independent entity for a or the foreseeable future. However, the team of Gaest will report to Greg Greeley, president of homes.

Corey Morris, the chief marketing officer of Gaest commenting about the firm said, "Three years ago, our co-founders set out on a journey to make it easier to list, discover and book unique spaces to work, learn, live and play. It’s been a wild ride with the highs and lows you’d expect from an ambitious startup who’s trying to engender change."
